June 1975 Randy Sharp flies out to Los Angeles and adds some tracks and makes some adjustments at Sunwest Studios to finish the album.


September 1975. “The Blackberry Winter” album is pressed and released.

“Answers” b/w “The Aging” is released as the lead single.

June 1976:  BBW bus crash at Wolfcreek Pass in the Colorado mountains at the beginning of a tour on the way to a performance in south western Colorado.

From July 1976 to July 1977, BBW 2.3 performs as a 7 piece until July 4th 1977 when the BBW brass section retires.

BBW becomes a six piece rock band with two keyboardist.


In 1978 this edition went to Los Angeles and recorded an album of 12 songs in 3 different 24 track LA studios but it was never properly mixed or finished because of budget constraints. (until 2023)

In June of 1981, this edition of BBW  3.2 moves to Southern California. Auditioned for agents at the Rendezvous Club in Anaheim, Owned at the time by Dick Dale’s*** wife. Played the club circuit in Orange County, San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles and San Diego for about two years. The band played a mix of top 40 and original music in their sets.

In August of 1983 JANET GARDNER used original BBW tapes (with band permission) to audition for VIXEN, who she then joined & they signed a recording contract with EMI. BBW went on hiatus at this point, continuing to remix original material but never really abandoning the name or the music…..


1983-1996…. For 13 years there was no band performing live under the name “Blackberry Winter”…..to the best of our knowledge.

IN 1996 BBW is resurrected as a 9 piece brass kickin' big band. This is BBW 4.0

In 2007, the “Kiss Our Brass Goodbye” DVD is released. Blackberry Winter 4.1 plays its final farewell performances at the Rococo Theatre in downtown Lincoln and the Adams County fairground in Hastings, Nebraska. BBW then goes on hiatus between 2007-2013 in Nebraska

IN 2013 BLACKBERRY WINTER IS re-formed by Steve Jacobi with a new cast of musicians and personnel.
